Like most pathologically self-obsessed gay men, I have a Google Alert on my name — really, I use it to see what stories of mine have been picked up. Anyway, about once a day, I find an email in my in-box from Google, showing me links to where my name — and presumably, me — has come up on the Worldwide InterWeb or what have you.
Only it’s not only me.
I got this Google Alert, which shows where the name “Arnold Wayne Jones” came up recently. I was surprised to find it was on the website Mugshots.com, and identified me as a sex offender in Ohio.
I was shocked and, I doubt mind saying, offended — I would never go to Ohio.
