george-madness-promo-picGeorge Takei will make two local appearances this weekend.

Known for his iconic role as Sulu in the original Star Trek plus six subsequent Star Trek films, today he’s widely followed on Facebook because of his funny and insightful posts. Recently, he’s appeared on The Neighbors, Hawaii Five-0 and Lost Girl and is heard regularly on Howard Stern.

In an interview with Dallas Voice that will appear Friday, Takei said his Facebook posts began as a way to promote his new musical Allegiance. The show is headed for Broadway, which is based on his experiences in an internment camp during World War II. His family was rounded up after the attack on Pearl Harbor because they are Japanese-American.

On Friday, Takei appears at Madness Games & Comics, 3000 Custer Road, Suite 310, Plano from 6–8 p.m. for a signing. Prices for autographs are $40 each, 8×10 photos $5 each and photo ops $30 each.

On Saturday, Takei narrates a concert with the Fort Worth Symphony at Bass Hall that includes music from Star Wars, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Close Encounters and, of course, Star Trek.
