I don’t expect many overtly gay moments from the Super Bowl, but one kept coming back to me. No, it wasn’t Christina Aguilera’s anthem fail, which drag queens most likely will bypass in future performances; and it wasn’t the emergence of probable new bearish icons Brett Goode and Mike Tomlin. Actually, it was nothing that happened on the field.
The commercials were up and down in cleverness, but I have to admit, my jaw dropped in pure silence after watching this commercial. Gay? OK, maybe not overly, but I kinda doubt the straights will be running with the catchphrase, “Cram it in the boot.”
indeed on the ad. jaw dropping. haven’t heard much about it though. Although did just see mini countryman billboard in times square trip: pics from blog: blog.cincinnatimini.com/ more typical mini fair.
yeah I “got the joke” on the mini countryman super bowl ad, just didn’t think it was funny.
the times square billboard is stunning, i will give them that. but why wasn’t it also from the “cram it in the you-know-where” idea? maybe mini is already distancing itself from that gag?
anyone else notice the camera angle used when he puts the extra long sub in the “boot” (butt)?
it’s the only shot of cramming where you see him from the front, and the sub is placed as if it is his dick, then he “humps” to cram it in more.
this commercial is for gay people, therefore mini coopers are for gay people. no thank you.
correction, it’s the only shot where you see him from the front in the :30 second version.
“guddaaa”, not sure what to say about your “mini coopers are for gay people. no thank you.” comment. my moms always told me that if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all …………
i did see the billboard that Edwin is talking about. I don’t usually go around “oooh” and “aaaahhhh” about commercials but this one was gorgeous. Take a look:
