Yesterday, D magazine Publisher Wick Allison announced that he was shutting down the comments function on the magazine’s popular blog, FrontBurner. In explaining the move, Allison said the blog was designed to be a “conversation among the editors.” Well, it appears this is indeed the case today, as D editors not-so-subtly converse about what a horrible decision it was to shut down the comments.
What do you think, Jack E. Jett?
I guess i can’t make any of my classic tranny vajayjay comments no mo’, but glad to know yall protects my freedoms of speak
The comments always got in the way of the facts and undeserved arrogance that Frontburner spews on a daily basis. They are too insecure to take the very “snark†that they so proudly dish out. The slightest critique was deleted, which in the end was fine because they hung themselves with their over the top, holier than thou nonsense.
I always envision a group of all white, all straight, Thurston Howell the Thirds running around in sissy fits trying to find the next best Crème Brule in Dallas. While they deny being homophobic, they have never been able to produce any substantive proof of support of our GLBTQ community. A publication this size should be very much a part of the diversity of our city. Having a gay friend or suggesting a Mexican restaurant does not make for diversity. Anytime this issue has been brought up, their silence speaks volumes. Now they announce they will go back to being a conversation about Dallas from the “editors†of D Magazine. This is a clear cut case of the journalistic version of The Helen Keller Syndrome.
Jack E. Jett. Big fan.
Please bring your wit and wisdom to my new blog, which is the new home for FrontBurner comments. (Click my name)
When I die I want to be reincarnated as Jack E. Jett.
Though the comments on D were often inane, they were at least amusing. Too bad they missed the point of a blog. Heck, even the Dallas Morning Snooze has a blog and allows comments on their news stories!
Won’t be missing the Frontburner comments at all! The DMN comments are so crazed that I skip them. Instant Tea’s are the only comments worth reading.
