From an immigrant’s perspective

As the new director and national board representative of the Log Cabin Republicans of Dallas, I am excited to share my story and our vision for the “Unity Party” — a coalition dedicated to common sense, bipartisanship and a strong commitment to the issues that matter most to all Americans.

My journey reflects the resilience of the human spirit. As a proud gay Assyrian Christian from Iran, I align deeply with the values of the Republican Party. My life has been a testament to overcoming adversity and embracing the freedoms that this great nation offers to everyone.

Growing up in Iran, I faced challenges that many may find hard to comprehend. Being part of a minority community, I often encountered hostility toward my identity. My sexuality was a source of shame in a society that sought to silence me.

Yet, I dreamed of a life where I could be true to myself, where acceptance came not in spite of my differences, but because of them. That dream became a reality in the United States.
In this country, I discovered opportunities I could only imagine back home. By the age of 26, I built a successful business from the ground up, became a homeowner, and became an active member of my community — a true embodiment of the American Dream.

Here, I found the freedom to pursue my passions, express my identity and contribute meaningfully to society — achievements that would have been unattainable in Iran, where conformity stifles individuality.

My story captures the essence of what it means to be American. My sexuality does not define me; it is not a badge I wear to stand apart. I am not here to promote division or seek special treatment.

Instead, I celebrate the values that unite us: freedom, opportunity and the pursuit of happiness. The rainbow flag does not represent me; the American flag does, symbolizing the rights and freedoms I hold dear — rights that empower every American, regardless of their background.

As a legal immigrant, I understand the complexities of the immigration process. I advocate for legal immigration, emphasizing its importance for national security and economic growth.

The Republican Party often supports policies that prioritize lawful entry, ensuring that those who follow the rules are respected and valued in our society. Securing our borders is essential to this mission.

I am grateful for the opportunities this nation has provided. I have met individuals from diverse backgrounds, each with unique stories, yet we share a common dream of prosperity and acceptance. I believe in hard work, personal responsibility and the idea that anyone, regardless of their identity, can succeed in America.

As a member of the Republican Party, I advocate for policies that promote individual liberties and economic growth. I envision a government that empowers its citizens rather than imposing limitations. I believe in a society where we can all thrive, where our differences are celebrated and where we are free to live authentically.

Let us embrace the spirit of unity and collaboration. As we navigate the complexities of our identities and beliefs, let us remember that we are all Americans, bound by a shared commitment to freedom and opportunity. Together, we can build a future where everyone can live without fear, where dreams can flourish, and where the American Dream remains accessible to all.
