s5Gvptsq_400x400Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the world, which should startle anyone, including the LGBT community.
That’s because according to the Centers for Disease Control, one in four LGB adults, or 26.6 percent, smoke cigarettes, compared with roughly one in six, or 17.8 percent, of straight adults.
Because it is seen as preventable, many living with and affected by lung cancer often feel isolated or stigmatized.
A free program sponsored by AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals this weekend wants to change that perception.
LVNG with Lung Cancer takes places from 9 a.m.-3:15 p.m. at the Hilton Dallas/Park Cities Hotel, 5954 Luther Lane. The program is packed with workshops and speakers who will address all aspects of living with the disease, from the emotional and psychological components to managing your healthcare team.
Not only is the event free, but parking is too. Breakfast and lunch will be served.
