Fort Worth’s Rainbow Lounge has been destroyed in a blaze that started shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday morning, June 1. Officials, who by 6 a.m. remained on the scene, said the fire may have started at the bar’s ice machine.
Shortly after firefighters arrived, the roof collapsed, and overhead views by 6 a.m. showed the roof completely gone and the building nothing more than a gutted shell.
No one was in the bar and there were no injuries, according to reports.
The fire happened just shy of the eighth anniversary of the raid on the Rainbow Lounge, a joint operation “bar check” by Fort Worth police and TABC agents, in which several people were arrested and one man suffered a serious head injury with lasting effects.
