We were saddened to learn Sunday that longtime drag entertainer Greg Smith, aka Shegotta Mustache, passed away on Sunday. At this time, we’ve only heard that Smith had cancer and succumbed to the disease this weekend.
Over the years, Smith made quite the comic impression on the Dallas scene and was involved with many organizations, including DIVA and Texas Bear Round-Up.
According to his alter ego’s Facebook page, Smith posted this under Basic Information:
“Love making people laugh with the songs that I do and coming up with creative ways of making a song stand out and be funny.”
We will post more information as it is reported and confirmed.

Greg will be dearly missed. He was a great guy that cared for everyone and made me smile every time I saw him. He brightened the room and was a star on the softball field. He not only made people laugh, but was a friend, a couch, and a mentor to so many. We will always remember him and never forget him.
NOOOOOO! Shegotta was one of the first performers I ever saw at The Rose Room back in ’93. He (Greg) was also very sweet and funny and always…ALWAYS had a smile on his face. Greg, you will be missed. The “Shegotta Legacy” will live on.
This saddens me. Making the Angels laugh now
RIP Greg
Shegotta Mustache and I worked on a film together back in Dallas, and I got to know her for that brief time. After that I saw her strutting herself to some of the benefits that she used to perform at, She was one of the best performers I’ve seen in a long time.
RIP Shegotta
