Equality Texas has issued a Bad Bill Action Alert, encouraging LGBTQ individuals and allies who are in Austin on Tuesday, April 22, to either drop a card or testify in a hearing before the House Human Services Committee against House Bill 1106.
HB 1106 would allow parents to send their gay and trans children to conversion therapy, to misgender them at home or taunt them for their identity without any negative ramifications.
“This bill protects abusers, not kids,” Equality Texas declares in its action alert.
Individuals must be present at the Texas Capitol on the day of the hearing and logged in to the Capitol WiFi to register to testify or to drop a card. To register to testify, you’ll need to identify the committee and bill you want to testify on, state your position (for or against) and indicate whether you wish to testify orally or submit written testimony.
