Mark another four down in the confirmed midterms win column for the Democrats.
The Denver Post just reported that Democrat Jessica Killin has defeated incumbent U.S. Rep. Jeff Crank to flip Colorado’s historically red 5th Congressional District into the blue zone.
The Associated press called the race at 12:38 p.m. today (Thursday, Nov. 5) when Killin hot the 50.6 percent mark, compared to Crank;s 46 percent.
Earlier today, three other congressional races were called for Democrats:
In North Carolina, Democrat Don Davis kept his party’s control over his district — a district that was one of those that was redrawn to favor Republicans, The BBC notes that the district in question voted Democrat in 2024 under the old district lines, but had the redrawn boundaries already been in place at the time of the 2024 presidentail election, Trump would have carried it by more that 11.5 percent. But this week, even in its redrawn state, the district stayed blue.
Democrat Shannon L. Taylor flipped a seat in Virginia and Democrat Sam Forstag flipped a seat in Montana, both of which were won by Trump and the Republicans in 2024.
With those four races now called for the Democrats, the Democrats have 248 seats in Congress compared to 153 for the Republicans, with 35 seats still undecided.
