Early voting begins today, Monday, Oct. 20, and continues through Friday, Oct. 31. Tuesday, Nov. 4, is Election Day. Voters statewide will be voting on 17 state constitutional amendments.
The amendments are:
Prop 1: Capital needs for the Texas State Technical College System
Prop 2: Prohibiting taxes on realized or unrealized capital gains
Prop. 3: Denial of bail under certain circumstances
Prop. 4: Directing sales tax revenue to the Texas water fund
Prop. 5: Exemption of property taxes on animal feed for sale at retail
Prop. 6: Prohibition on taxing certain entities that buy and sell securities or taxing securities transactions
Prop. 7: Allow for property tax exemption for surviving spouses of some veterans
Prop. 8: Prohibition of death taxes
Prop. 9: Allow for property tax exemption on income-generating property
Prop. 10: Temporary property tax exemption for residences destroyed by fire
Prop. 11: Increased homestead exemption for elderly or disabled residents
Prop. 12: Rules for the State Commission on Judicial Conduct
Prop. 13: Increase in homestead tax exemption for school district taxes
Prop. 14: Creation of the Dementia Prevention and Research Institute of Texas
Prop. 15: Parental rights amendment
Prop. 16: Citizenship voting amendment
Prop. 17: Property tax exemption on land used for border security infrastructure

In addition, Mesquite is holding municipal elections and a Tarrant County state Senate race pits former Southlake Mayor John Huffman against Democrat Taylor Rehmet.
