DOMA repeal to be introduced in House, too; poll shows majority of Americans oppose federal law

Yesterday, I posted this notice about a group of U.S. senators who plan to introduce legislation to repeal DOMA on Wednesday. Now comes word that a bill to repeal the anti-marriage-equality law will be introduced in the U.S. House at the same time tomorrow.
Democratic U.S. Reps. Jarrold Nadler of New York, Barney Frank of Massachusetts, Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin, Jared Polis of Colorado, David Ciciline of Rhode Island and John Conyers of Michigan will announce plans to re-introduce the Respect for Marriage Act in the House tomorrow in an 11 a.m. (EST) press conference in the Rayburn House Office Building. They will be joined by LGBT leaders, marriage equality supporters and two of the lead plaintiffs in cases challenging DOMA.
The legislation already has 108 original co-sponsors.
Meanwhile, a new poll from the Human Rights Campaign and Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research shows that 51 percent of Americans oppose DOMA, while only 34 percent support it.
