Because it should. See, this movie, Valentine’s Day, features a gay plotline featuring Bradley Cooper and Eric Dane. But the trailer opens with Julia Roberts and Cooper flirting, and commenting on a woman flirting with Cooper. Later, you see a quick kiss between Roberts and Cooper … but Dane only appears in a long shot alone.
This is a big-cast movie, and it’s not like you can figure out every realtionship in 90 seconds. But the question is: Has the trailer intentionally misled viewers into thinking the Pretty Woman and the star of The Hangover are the central romantic story … and whether, if intentional, it should offend gay moviegoers.
Thoughts?
Does Patrick Dempsey’s contract state that he must juggle in every movie?
Hmmmm….well, I think that if the main plot of the story involves a gay plot line, I do think that they have taken steps to avoid pointing that out in the trailer.
And I guess, if the movie has a “good gay message”, then I am okay with ‘tricking’ a few people who might not have went to see it if they had known that it had a gay plot line.
If it helps someone understand us a little better, I am okay with the trailer.
