Performing Arts Fort Worth, the nonprofit owner and operator of Bass Performance Hall, announced Monday that Dixie’s Tupperware Party, starring Dixie Longate, will return to McDavid Studio for a limited, six-show engagement April 2-6. This show comes to Fort Worth in its final season as an addition to the 2024-2025 Irwin Steel Popular Entertainment Series. Tickets go on sale Friday, Jan. 17 at 10 a.m.
Her previous party in Fort Worth was held last April.
“When we heard that Dixie would be hanging up her apron after almost 20 years on the road, we just knew we had to bring her back to McDavid Studio one last time,” Performing Arts Fort Worth President & CEO Dione Kennedy said in Monday’s press release. “Dixie’s Tupperware Party has been a staple in our Popular Entertainment Series for many years. If you’ve never experienced a Dixie show before, I think you’ll find it’s an experience unlike any other. While you may come for a laugh, you’ll leave with a fresh perspective and of course, some of that Dixie humor and charm.”
This final season makes sense as Tupperware has been in flux recentlty. The 80 year-old company filed for bankruptcy in September last year and was then purchased by hedge funds in October. While buying the company out of bankruptcy, a new CEO was brought on to reenvision and rebuild the plastics innovator into The New Tupperware Company.
If things were changing at Tupperware to give focus on digital sales, Longate may have seen the writing on the wall. The drag performer’s popular and legit Tupperware parties are a mix of stand-up, storytelling and purchasing items you didn’t know you needed until Longate demonstrated them in her own quirky homespun and hilarious way.
Tickets can be purchased here on Friday or at the box office in Bass Hall.
