Saturday was miserably rainy, but the sun — and the bidders — showed up on Sunday at Woody’s. That’s where the Dallas Diablos held their annual bachelor auction, as about a dozen men took to the stage while hosts Dean Driver and Suzy Solis rounded up folks to bid on members of Dallas’ gay rugby team.
The packages offered — and we mean the prizes that accompanied the bachelors (though we mean the other, too) — were pretty astounding, from Blu-ray players and massages to travel and crystal and tons of other things. The Diables ended up raising $13,000, with $1,100 the top bid on one bachelor. In addition, the 50-50 raffle netted $900, with the winner donating his half back to the club. It makes all the broken bones and abrasions worth it.
As President of the Dallas Diablos, I would like to thank all of our fans, sponsors, donors, and volunteers. We simply would not be able to do it without you all. The Diablos are here to stay as Texas’ only gay rugby team. We are here with you, always.
