Wayland Shipman was born March 23, 1930 in Vera, Texas.

Raised in Seymour, Texas, Shipman relocated to the D-FW Metroplex in 1970.

A gift from God, Shipman was called home on May 4, 2012.  Wayland was always there to lend a helping hand and would talk to anyone standing still.  We will miss the smile on his face, but we will always have the memories of a true country gentleman.

Shipman is survived by his daughters, Rea Brech and Hope Osborne; five grandchildren; and three of his 10 siblings: Olaff and Orgie Shipman of Seymour, and Marie Tuck of Yokon, Okla.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, at McKinney Memorial Baptist Church, at 4805 Arborlawn Drive in Fort Worth.

  1. The news of Wayland’s passing lays heavy on my heart. The world is minus 1 ‘really great man’ today. But I know that tonight when the stars come out, one will be shining a little brighter than all the rest. And if you listen really close you’ll hear laughter, country music, and the sound of boots scootin across the dance floor. I will be looking up and smiling because that is where Wayland will be; and the heavens will be a better place because he is there. I know the earth is a better place because he was here. We will miss you, Wayland….. Thank you for all the joy you gave.
