David Taffet, a staff writer for Dallas Voice and the longtime host of Lambda Weekly on KNON-89.3 FM, will receive the Kuchling Humanitarian Award at this year’s Black Tie Dinner, according to the above flier sent out by organizers this afternoon.
Taffet will be honored for his “diligent dedication, and giving a voice to the LGBT community,” according to BTD. Fittingly, when we got word of the honor, David was out shooting photos for an upcoming cover story. But we’ll be sure to let him know just as soon as he gets back …
UPDATE: David is back, but he says he’s actually known since last Friday, when BTD co-chairs Mitzi Lemons and Ken Morris called to inform him, but he’s managed to keep it a secret.
“I can’t tell you how overwhelmed I was that I won this,” he said. “I had no idea. I’m shocked.”
