The Turtle Creek Chorale’s artistic director, Jonathan Palant, has invested a good amount of energy this year trying to lure the GALA Choruses Festival, the quadrennial conference of gay choirs, to DFW for its 2012 event.
Word came today, through the Dallas CVB, that last weekend the GALA Choruses board took Big D out of consideration. No announcement was made about where it will be, only that now just two cities are in the running.
“The biggest factor is the weather in July, especially after we just had a festival in Miami last year,” they said, to which I respond, “If you can’t stand the heat … well, I don’t know what. But why punish us for a bad experience in Miami? It’s summer everywhere in July, guys!
