The Dallas City Council will listen to public input on the recommendations from the Memorial Task Force at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25 in council chambers on the 6th floor of Dallas City Hall. The deadline to sign up to speak is 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The task force recommended renaming streets and parks named after Confederate officials. In Oak Lawn, Lee Park was temporarily given its original name back, but Oak Lawn Park is actually just a “placeholder” name, according to Councilman Omar Narvaez.
The task force also recommended renaming Lee Parkway, the two-block street that borders on one side of the park. Residents of that street have let council members know they’re not happy with that proposal, Narvaez said.
