In an unanimous vote, the Dallas Landmark Commission approved an exception for Oak Lawn United Methodist Church to keep its rainbow steps as a temporary art installation for three years.

The vote followed two hours of speakers from around the Dallas area speaking in favor of the proposal. No one came to Dallas City Hall to voice any opposition.

More about why the commission changed a staff recommendation of a one year exemption became a three year deal and why an approval was even needed in this Friday’s Dallas Voice.
