Conroe Republican Sen. Brandon Creighton, who chairs the Senate Committee on Education K-16, has introduced two more measures targeting diversity, inclusion and equity in the state’s schools, The Texas Tribune reports.
Senate Bill 12 and Senate Bill 1565 both would withhold funding from any public school that doesn’t comply with the state’s DEI ban.
Creighton’s two bills would support legislation approved in the 2023 legislature banning diversity offices, programs and training at publicly-funded universities, and Gov. Greg Abbott has since called on lawmakers to make sure no taxpayer dollars go to any DEI efforts.
