Following President Barack Obama’s decision to come out in support of marriage equality, the Georgia Voice — our LGBT counterpart in Atlanta — put out the above cover mimicking Newsweek and focusing on how Mayor Kasim Reed  — while otherwise a supporter of the LGBT community — has stopped short of endorsing marriage equality. It was a pretty brilliant cover, and something we might easily have done with Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, who says he supports marriage equality but has strangely — or not-so-strangely — declined to sign a pledge that says so. For the record, I did contact Rawlings’ chief of staff, Paula Blackmon, in the wake of Obama’s announcement, to find out whether the mayor had any response. Blackmon never got back to me. C’mon, Mike, evolve already.
