I-Rish Upon a Bar

I-Rish Upon a Bar

The Fourth of July is a hot dog holiday, New Year’s is a champagne holiday, St. Valentine’s was meant for chocolate… but St. Patrick’s Day? Well, that’s a serious drinking holiday for beer and cocktails. Sure, green beer is the easy choice, but how many green-colored cocktails are out there? Surprisingly, quite a few.
Here are a few recipes for your March 27 celebration (though let’s face it: A lot of folks will be getting started this weekend.)
Lucky Leprechaun

Lucky Leprechaun

1 oz. Bombay Sapphire gin
St-Germain elderflower liqueur
Fresh lime juice
2 chucks of kiwi and cucumber, skinned and diced
Sprig of fresh dill
Making it: Muddle cucumber, kiwi and dill in the base of a shaker. Add gin and a drizzle of St-Germain and lime. Pour in a large scoop of ice; shake vigorous. Double strain into a chilled lowball glass.
LUCKY LEPRECHAUN
2 oz. Caliche rum
3/4 oz. Midori melon liqueur
3/4 oz. lemon juice
1/2 oz. triple sec
3 drops Mint bitters
Making it: Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker, and fill with ice; sit until well-chilled. Serve in a coupe with a twist of lemon.
