HerraduraYou might not expect hell to freeze over during a Texas summer, but then, I bet you didn’t think Trump would be the Republican nominee. But few things are more refreshing in summer than a chilly margarita, courtesy of the kitchen at Plano’s Mi Dia from Scratch Tex-Mex restaurant. (The restaurant even boasts a “tequila tower” of more than 100 tequilas.) Here’s the recipe:
1.25 oz. green chile-infused Herradura silver tequila
1 oz. Cointreau
1/4 of a lime
1/4 of a cucumber
1/4 oz. agave nectar
2 basil leaves
Hatch pepper and salt (to rim)
Dry ice (for effect)
Making it: Muddle the cucumber, lime, basil and agave in a shaker. Add tequila and Cointreau with ice and shake vigorous. Rim a martini glass and double strain in liquid, with dry ice in the glass.
