Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of JusticeSo the mucho-anticipated Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice has finally opened, with Ben Affleck playing the ageing superhero opposite Henry Cavill (who, I’m sorry, is just so, so pretty) as Clark Kent and his alter ego. It’s a film that’s easy to criticize, or even dislike (at two-and-a-half hours, it isn’t a whiz-bang show), but I enjoyed its mythic scope, and how director Zack Snyder united the two signature characters of the DC Comics Universe — the perpetually hopeful Superman and the darkly brooking vigilante Batman — and found a way to explore both aspects in a cogent, epic way. And, as my fanboy friend noted, “We all wanted to see if Affleck ruined Batman; he didn’t.” So there’s that.
Anyway, to breathe a sigh of relief, let’s raise a glass to the superhero franchise (which also introduced Wonder Woman, as well as cameos from other DC properties) with this recipe entitled Maestro of Justice.
Dawn1.5 oz. Bacardi Gran Reserva Maestro de Ron Rum
3/4 oz. lime juice
3/4 oz. honey syrup
1/2 oz. absinthe
6 mint leaves
Making it: Shake all ingredients with plenty of ice, and double strain into a rocks glass with one large ice cube. Garnish with springs of mint.
