This morning I walked downstairs in the dark half asleep, turned on the TV and said, “What am I doing all dressed up on TV at this hour?”
WFAA-TV Channel 8 is running a Black Tie Dinner public service spot. The ad features stills from the stage of the 2013 Black Tie Dinner held on Nov. 2, 2013, to congratulate the committee for putting on a successful event that supports so many community organizations.
BTD speakers Fran Drescher, Dustin Lance Black and Zach Wahls as well as chairs Mitzi Lemons and Ken Morris, gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis, oh and me, are all featured in the ad.
“Channel 8, as part of their sponsorship of Black Tie, offered PSAs as a ‘thank you for what you do,’” Morris said.
He said the station’s been doing this for several years, and he expects the spots to run for about a month, probably until the beginning of February.
Black Tie Dinner distributed $930,000 to beneficiaries in December. The 2014 Black Tie Dinner at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel will be held on Nov. 15.
