The LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce Foundation this week announced that applications are now open for scholarships for the 2026-27 school year. Scholarships are open to Texas residents enrolled in accredited post-secondary programs, including university undergraduate and graduate studies, as well as vocational and technical school certificate programs.
All applications along with required documentation must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 31. Applications will be evaluated based on financial need, academic achievement and community involvement.
Applicants do not have to self-identify as LGBTQ+ to be eligible for a scholarship.
Valerie Jackson, foundation board chair, said, “since 2011, the LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce Foundation has awarded nearly $200,000 in scholarships to support the education aspirations of our community. We aim to empower our scholars to complete their education and emerge as the business and community leaders of tomorrow.
“These investments are shaping the future of Texas’ LGBTQ+ community,” Jackson said.
The foundation manages both general scholarship funds and specialized funds including a film and television/performing arts scholarship, a S.T.E.M. acholarship, the Rob Ruhlin Law Scholarship, the Veronica Marcum Nursing Scholarship, the United Court of the Lone Star Empire Scholarship, the Coalition for Aging LGBT Scholarship and the Rainbow Garden Club Scholarship.
