Log Cabin Republicans of Dallas are hosting their inaugural Lincoln Legacy Ball on Thursday, Oct. 9, starting at 6 p.m. at The Empire Room, 1225 N. Riverfront Blvd., with a number of high-profile Republicans lined up to speak at the black-tie event.

“For nearly five decades, Log Cabin Republicans have worked to make the Republican Party more inclusive,” said Simon Aslanpour, Log Cabin Dallas’ national LCR board representative. “Over the years, the GOP has grown into a true big tent, and our challenge for the next 50 years is to inspire even more in our community to proudly ‘come out’ as Republican.

“The Lincoln Legacy Ball honors the president who inspired the founding of our organization. It is both a celebration of our victories and a moment to draw inspiration for the future,” he added.

Aslanpour said Lincoln Legacy Ball will be “an elegant evening dedicated to celebrating leadership, liberty and community” complete with “fine dining, lively dancing and inspiring entertainment, all in support of conservative principles rooted in the values of Abraham Lincoln.” There will also be a silent auction featuring “exceptional artwork and unique experiences,” he noted.

  1. So LCR is welcoming Allen West to their ball. This is the very same Allen West that is described by GLAAD thusly:
—Compared being LGBTQ to a person choosing a favorite ice cream flavor.

—Attacked the military’s allowance of openly lesbian, gay, and bisexual service members because of his belief that people can change their sexual orientation.

—Said the LGBTQ community “recruits” students through high school LGBTQ clubs: “Here we are sitting around thinking our kids are going to school to get an academic education, when in reality they’re just lab rats in an indoctrination test tube. The sustainable approach for the gay community—since reproduction requires outside assistance–is one of recruitment and indoctrination—right in our faces.”

—Said “gay marriage is an oxymoron.”

—Suggested the Supreme Court’s marriage ruling “could lead to civil war.”

Lincoln would be ashamed–but not the LCR.
