Scarborough’s Hollow is the place to be for Halloween & Dia de Los Muertos Celebrations this Friday, Oct. 31 from 5 p.m.-midnight and Saturday, Nov. 1 from 2-10 p.m. with Trick-or-Treating, themed entertainment, costume contests and a Dia de Los Muertos procession and Ofrenda. Plus, seven stages of live entertainment, hands-on activities for kids, a pumpkin patch, Artisan Village, games of skill, beer tasting events, and so much more!

HALLOWEEN NIGHT ACTIVITIES & ENTERTAINMENT:

Halloween Night is open special hours with Trick-or-Treating for kids 12 & under throughout the Village and the first 500 kids get a free Trick-or-Treat bag. There will be a DJ spinning lively tunes throughout the night, and special guest performers, Marquis of Vaudeville and Monte Rose.

It’s time for everyone to display their best Halloween costume creations too! See who can capture the spirit of the season and claim the title of best in show in the Halloween Costume Contest presented by Pendragon Costumes. Visitors are invited to enter if they dare for the chance to win a $100 gift certificate to Pendragon Costumes and other great Scarborough’s Hollow prizes! Kids and adult contests will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Harvest Garden. Family friendly costumes are welcome every day of Scarborough’s Hollow. Please no gory or frightening costumes.

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS CELEBRATIONS:

On Saturday, Nov. 1, the Hollow pays tribute to the Mexican tradition of Dia de Los Muertos with themed celebrations and a variety of special activities.

  • Dia de Los Muertos Face Painting 3:30-5:30 p.m. near the Harvest Garden
  • Kids & Adult Costume Contests at 5 p.m. in the Harvest Garden. Visitors are invited to display their eye-catching Dia de Los Muertos style with brilliant face paint, flower-filled headpieces, and bold costumes that are as lively as the celebration itself for the chance to win a $250 Gift Card from Tom Thumb & Albertsons and other great prizes.
  • Mariachi Los Reyes De Dallas performs at 5 p.m. in the Harvest Garden
  • Dia de Los Muertos Procession begins at 5:30 p.m. and travels through the Hollow to the Ofrenda (memory altar) where guests are encouraged to leave a memento in honor of their loved ones (mementos will not be returned)
  • At 6 p.m. Mariachi Los Reyes De Dallas performs at the Ofrenda
  • Activities in the Hollow Kid’s Center include creating your own Candy Skull picture to commemorate the day.

OTHER ATTRACTIONS & INTERACTIVE FUN FOR ALL AGES:

Discover interactive fun in The Tricksters Trail of Leaping Lights (synchronized light tunnel), Hollow Pumpkin Patch, the Character Parade, and at the Fairy Sisters’ Meet & Greet.

Kids’ hands-on activities include games for all, The Coloring Wall, Harvest Blessings, the Kids’ Coloring Corner, and Pumpkin Painting. Plus, the kid friendly Hollow’s Hideaway Maze.

Pumpkin painting requires an additional fee, but all the other interactive attractions, entertainment, & kids’ activities are included with your admission ticket.

ENTERTAINMENT:

Other entertainment featured on the Festival’s seven stages include Cirque du Sewer (except Oct. 31), Cirque Celestial Fire Acrobatics presented by the Hell Dolls, Dublin Doubles, The Duelists, Hollow & Heroes (interactive D&D show), Josh the Ventriloquist, Queen Anne’s Lace, The Singing Serpents, Smee the Singing Executioner, and Thunder Thorsson. In the lanes, the cast from the Scarborough Academy of Performing Arts (SAPA) bring the Village to life including the three magical fairy sisters of Scarborough’s Hollow – Faylin, Morwyn & Slyra! 

ADD-ON ATTRACTIONS:

You can add-on to your Hollow’s adventures with the Masquerade of Mischief Fun House, or Morwyn’s Manor Haunted House. Plus, there is face painting, the Little Lantern Petting Zoo, games of skill, and Tarot card readings to enjoy.

FOOD & DRINK:

Foods and tempting seasonal favorites can be found throughout the Hollow! Visitors can take a break to savor delicious food throughout Scarborough’s Hollow such as giant roasted Turkey Legs, BBQ Mac & Cheese, Gourmet Grilled Cheese sandwiches and King’s Bacon.

To satisfy your sweet tooth, there are sumptuous treats like Apple Pie Nachos, Pecan Cobbler and S’mores Funnel Cake along with sweet and savory treats and weekly specials at the 13th Hour Bakery. And don’t miss the interactive favorite – S’mores Station where you can roast your own S’mores creation!

PUBS & BEER TASTING EVENTS:

Visitors 21+ can partake in adult beverages at one of the seven pubs offering a great selection of craft beers, wine, Breaking Brew Mead, Nidhogger Mead, weekly specials, themed cocktails, and seasonal favorites. The Rose & Crown Inn also offers a full bar.

If beer is your Autumn indulgence, join Scarborough’s own Certified Cicerone® for one of the twice daily Brews of the Hollow Beer Tasting events taking you through an educational journey of tasting Fall beers with a complementary beer glass to keep as your souvenir. Admission tickets at the gate are $30 for Adults and $18 for Kids 5-12. Kids 4 & under are always free. The Masquerade of Mischief Fun House & Morwyn’s Manor Haunted House are $15 each on-site and the Hollow’s Hayride is $8. Parking is $12 per car.

Scarborough’s Hollow is located in the Crown Meadow section of the Scarborough Faire® site in Waxahachie, just 30 minutes south of Downtown Dallas off I-35E. The festival runs Saturdays, now – November 15, 2-10 p.m. plus Halloween Night, Friday October 31from 5 p.m.-midnight.
