Resource Center today (Tuesday, Oct. 20) announced the appointment of Calvert Collins-Bratton as chair of its Board of Directors, along with its incoming officers and directors for the new term.
Collins-Bratton most recently served as chair-elect and has been on Resource Center’s board for four years. She recently joined Klyde Warren park as president and CEO, following senior leadership roles at Communities Foundation of Texas and Methodist Health System Foundation.
Collins-Braxton is a Dallas native and former television journalist. She also previously served eight years on the city of Dallas Park and Recreation Board, including two years as president, according to a press release announcing her as board chair.
Collins-Bratton said, “I am deeply honored to serve as board chair at such a pivotal time for Resource Center as we navigate a leadership transition and a complex political landscape. For decades, Resource Center has been a lifeline and a beacon of hope for tens of thousands of LGBTQIA+ people and people living with HIV/AIDS across North Texas. Together with our talented board and dedicated staff, I look forward to advancing our mission, expanding our vital programs and advocating for dignity and equity for all.”
Resource Center CEO Cece Cox noted, “We are thrilled to welcome Calvert as our new board chair, alongside an exceptional group of officers and directors. Having served on our board, she understands the needs of the people we serve, and her strategic vision will be invaluable as we strengthen programs, meet growing community needs, build a more inclusive future and support incoming CEO Christopher Wagley in his new role.”
The incoming board includes business executives, community leaders, and advocates.
Executive officers, in addition to Collins-Braxton, are Chair-Elect Lauren Mutti, Treasurer Court Wakefield, Secretary Rick Wilson-Negron and Chair Emeritus Christopher LaGrone.
Directors are Gerry Altamirano, Seth Brown, Meagan LaBossiere, Kevin McDorman, Deborah McMurray, Dale Philbrick and Dr. Jon Vogel.
“The new leadership team will support governance and the financial stability of Resource Center’s comprehensive healthcare, community wellness and advocacy programs, ensuring sustainable growth and continued impact for the communities it serves,” the press release said.
