REJECTING REGGAE HATE | Protesters rally in Deep Ellum to mark the appearance of reggae singer Buju Banton, some of whose lyrics call for the murder of gays and lesbians, at Trincity on Main Street on Tuesday night, Oct. 20. Banton’s concert was orginally slated at House of Blues, but that appearance was canceled. The concert was later rescheduled at the much smaller Deep Ellum venue. Demonstrators were kept behind barricades across the street by 40 Dallas police officers assigned to keep the peace between the 40 protesters and fewer than 50 concertgoers counted entering the hall. Thanks to those that took the time to do this and represent me as a gay man. Your effort is appreciated.
Thank you Protesters!!
You stood up for our whole community!
Entire Dallas Gay Community:
REMEMBER the GREEDY and ANTI-GAY… PALM BEACH CLUB. Boycott this nasty club from now on!! Let’s show them that the revenue from this small concert WILL NOT be worth their FUTURE LOST REVENUE!
We have the financial and political clout to shut them down…
so lets do it! UNITED WE STAND!!!
Good job Dallas!
Now get busy and do all you can to put this PALM BEACH CLUB OUT OF BUSINESS!
Do not let this go unanswered!
You have the time and resources…Dallas, YOU CAN SPEAK OUT ON THIS!
Congratulations to everyone who made this protest a major success!
Thanks to the efforts of the Dallas Resource Center and the activist groups Equality March Texas and Queer LiberAction, Buju went from 4,000 seats at House of Blues which is a high end classy place to a 300 seat dump only selling 50 seats.
Palm Beach Club has changed their name to Trincity. The building was previously painted orange, but has been repainted in black.
Wow, Palm Beach Club has already changed their name?
That’s incredible. They are obviously ashamed of their actions. They should be forced out of business.
Don’t forget Dallas!
