The Beulaville Baptist Book Club Presents a Bur-Less-Q Nutcracker has been a tradition for several years — the brainchild of Mark-Brian Sonna, in which a rural Texas group accidentally books strippers to perform its annual ballet. It’s a local favorite, and now a national one. According to Sonna, the production was just awarded a Nutty Award (the Goldstar Nutcraker Award, officially) as most beloved production of The Nutcracker in the U.S. Previous winners include ballet companies like the Joffrey, the Kirov and even Debbie Allen’s Hot Chocolate Nutcracker. And since it’s still going on, you can still see the show before the end of the year. Congrats, Mark-Brian!
