President Donald Trump has just dumped Kristi Noem as Homeland Security Secretary, moving her instead to the position of “Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas, our new Security Initiative in the Western Hemisphere.”

As is his custom, Trump used his social media platform, Truth Social, to announce Noem’s change in status, claiming Noem has “had numerous and spectacular results (especially on the Border!).” He said Markwayne Mullin, a senator from Oklahoma, will be taking over as head of Homeland Security effective March 31.

Noem’s relatively short tenure as Homeland Security secretary has been dogged with scandals and controversies, including allegations she steered a $220 million DHS ad contract to a firm linked to her, misleading Congress regarding the role of her top aide Corey Lewandowski in DHS contract approvals, excessive spending on private jets for her personal use, lying about the murders of U.S. citizens Renee Good and Alex Pretti at the hands of DHS agents, having an affair with Lewandowsi and SO MUCH MORE.
