For the eighth year, the Anthony Bobrow Trust, created by former Hidden Door Dallas owner the late Tony Bobrow, presented checks totaling more than $300,000 to Dallas nonprofits serving the Dallas LGBTQ+ community.
The Hidden Door is owned by the Bobrow Trust and profits from the bar go into the Bobrow Trust to be distributed to LGBTQ+ community non-profits.
Harvey Meissner, president of the Bobrow Trust and general manager of The Hidden Door, and Calvin Cunningham, general manager and co-trustee, presented the checks on stage at the bar on Tuesday, June 16.
A couple of hundred people turned out for dinner that was catered by Las Lupes and to see the check presentations.
This year’s beneficiaries are: Legacy Cares, ASD–A Home for Life, AIN, Cathedral of Hope, Legal Hospice of Texas, the Greg Dollgener Memorial AIDS Fund and the Family Place. The total amount given to there non-profits is $330,000.
In addition, the trust will be sending a check to the Teague, Texas, fire department for $30,000.
Bobrow grew up in Teague, Texas, about 100 miles south of Dallas, and he left specific instructions to ‘make life better for Teague.’
