Perry Coward Ad
The above advertisement appeared Tuesday in nearly two dozen Texas newspapers, according to The Dallas Morning News. The ad, paid for by the Back to Basics PAC, labels Republican Gov. Rick Perry a “coward” for refusing to debate Democratic challenger Bill White or interview with newspaper editorial boards. The ad goes on to urge people to, “Tell Rick Perry to stop cowering and face Texans like a man.”
White is trailing Perry by 8 points in the latest polls, and some are suggesting that this machismo contest won’t be enough to make up the deficit. What are your thoughts?
Its not a “Bill White ad” as you misleadingly have in your title. Bill White did not put the ad out.
@Scott: It’s an ad in support of Bill White. Therefore it’s a BIll White ad for the purposes of a headline. The post points out that the ad was paid for by Back to Basics.
I don’t think Texas can take another minute of Rick Perry as governor. My personal favorite on the list is Perry’s living in a $10K/mo. mansion, when people can’t afford to pay their mortgages right now. But I don’t know that calling him a coward is going to make up an 8 point difference either. As usual, both sides have their skeletons to deal with, and not laying them on the table up front is a bad decision. We don’t see a lot of campaigning here in Houston, since White probably has it locked up. But I’m really sorry to know that’s what the rest of the state is seeing. White did so much good here, he could be pushing all his successes as mayor of Houston, but instead he’s resorting to mudslinging.
Sorry John, but your title for the post implies that Bill White ran the ad. Now if you had said, “What do you think about the new ad, from a Bill White supporter, that questions Rick Perry’s manhood?” it would have been correct.
@Scott: I’m gonna change the headline just for you.
Rick Perry is a big ole sissy. I hope he is not guy as he would bring our IQ average down. That is not really is problem. His problem is that he is a clueless douchebag who should be working at a local Toni & Guy.
I got an email from Bill White’s campaign manager with basically the same message as in that ad, so I don’t think it is particularly misleading to call it a Bill White ad.
This week we learned that Rick Perry is afraid.
He’s afraid to debate Bill White. He’s afraid to talk to newspaper editorial boards. He’s afraid to answer tough questions about issues facing Texas.
You know what I’m afraid of?
I’m afraid of what Rick Perry’s $18 billion budget deficit is going to do to our state’s future if we let him stick around for another four years. Aren’t you?
Rick Perry’s hiding from his record. We need your financial support to hold him accountable. Please contribute $25 today.
Over the next four years, a lot of important decisions will be made — the stakes are high.
That’s why we need a governor who’s in it for Texas, who’s looking out for our future.
Contribute $25 to help us run ads to communicate with Texas voters across the state — whether they’re watching TV, listening to the car radio, or surfing the web.
Thank you for holding Rick Perry accountable and helping us communicate with Texas voters.
Sincerely,
Michael J. Moore
