Bell-Cecil

Rep. Cecil Bell Jr.

In a desperate attempt to avoid complying with any future Supreme Court rulings regarding marriage equality, Rep. Cecil Bell, R-Magnolia, has filed House Bill 623 that would punish state employees who comply with court orders requiring Texas to recognize the freedom to marry.
The bill would revoke all salary, benefits and pensions — punishing a public servant for following the law.
The Texas marriage law has been found unconstitutional by a federal district judge in San Antonio, and the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals will hear an appeal tomorrow (Friday, Jan. 9). Patti Fink and Erin Moore will be at the court in New Orleans covering the hearing for Dallas Voice.
Bell, a second term representative, is kicking off stupid in high gear. He’s 52 years old and represents Waller County and part of Montgomery County near The Woodlands, north of Houston.
