A system of police cameras is being launched this afternoon along McKinney Avenue between Pearl and Blackburn streets, The Dallas Morning News reports. The system of 11 cameras cost $160,000 and was paid for by the nonprofit Uptown Dallas Inc. The cameras, which will be monitored by the Dallas Police Department, are designed to both deter and help solve crimes. Above is a report from NBC 5.
I understand Cedar Springs doesn’t have a PID like the one that paid for these Uptown cameras, but someone (the merchants association?) has to take a leadership role and raise some money to install at least 6 cameras along the strip, especially behind the bars where most of the crime happens (Reagan and Dickason, especially).
Wow, they’ll save a lot of money with these since we’ll no longer go through all that hassle of getting search warrants before collecting recordings of people any more.
If they would add rifles to the cameras then we could save even more money by not having trials, judges, and juries either.
