Elevate North Texas holds its first major fundraiser to support its work providing emergency temporary housing for LGBTQ+ young adults ages 18-24. Reunification with family when possible is an important part of the work they do in preventing homelessness.
The event is dubbed The Beyond the Rooftop Gala. It takes place Saturday, Sept. 12 from 6-10 p.m. at Nuvo Room, 4241 Sigma Road. That off Midway Road between Alpha and Spring Valley roads. Tickets begin at $200 and may be purchased online.
Elevate NTX was founded by Jason Vallejo during the pandemic when shelters were reducing the number of people they served. According to the organization, Dallas ISD reported 3,964 students were experiencing homelessness before the pandemic. Mesquite ISD reported an additional 670 students experiencing homelessness. Since the COVID outbreak, the numbers have increased.
