Angela-Ryan

Life is a cabaret at Viva Dallas’ Cirque du Burlesque
The teasing sex show Viva Dallas Burlesque has branched off into the big top (I mean, most of the women do have big tops) for the naughty Cirque du Burlesque. This monthly display of modern burlesque talents (including Angela Ryan, pictured) features pin-up girls (and sometimes guys!) performing acrobatics, magic, juggling, bellydancing and more. After all, as anyone who’s seen Gypsy knows, “ya gotta have a gimmick.”

DEETS:
Lakewood Theater
1825 Abrams Parkway.
Doors open at 8 p.m., curtain at 9 p.m. $20.

Flashdance-The-Musical

What a feeling to see ‘Flashdance’ onstage
Dallas Summer Musicals’ season so far has looked more like a movie listing than a Playbill: Sister Act, Mary Poppins, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and now the iconic ’80s hit Flashdance — now a musical with songs from the movie as well as original numbers. This national tour stops at Fair Park for two weeks for its run-up to an expected Broadway opening later this year.

DEETS:
Fair Park Music Hall
901 First Ave.
June 25–July 7.

Kinky-Boots

Cyndi gets ‘Kinky’ at HOB
Cyndi Lauper’s had quite a 2013 so far, with her Broadway debut as a composer, the drag comedy Kinky Boots, opening to rave reviews and winning her a Tony Award just last week. But it gets even better for her — OK, better for us — this week when she performs her She’s So Unusual Tour with opening act Hunter Valentine. She probably won’t sing any songs from the show, but who needs that when you can hear her classic pop tunes from her Grammy Award-winning debut album (“Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” “Time After Time,” “She Bop”) as well as her queer anthem “True Colors.”

DEETS:
House of Blues
2200 Lamar St.
Doors at 7 p.m., show starts at 8 p.m. $35–$75.
