Oct. 10: History and Practice of Photography
The Meadows Museum at SMU, 5900 Bishop Blvd., in conjunction with exhibitions featuring the work of Laura Wilson and Manuel Álvaarez Bravo, continues its Luis Martín Lecture Series in the Humanities with a presentation by María Beatriz H. Carrión, assistant professor of Art at Pennsylvania State University, from 10:30-11:30 a.m., on “En foco: Mexican and Mexican-American Photographs.” The four-part se ries is free form SMU faculty, staff and students and museum members, and is $60 for others.

Oct. 10: Jonathan Tetelman in Concert
Fort Worth Opera opens its 80th season by presenting Jonathan Tetelman in concert, with Michael Ricchuiti on piano, at 7 p.m. at The Van Cliburn Concert Hall at TCU, 2900 W. Lowden St., followed immediately by Dinner With the Stars. Single event tickets are the concert start at $75; season subscriptions are available. Tickets for Dinner with the Stars start at $250. Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary, 1 Nature Place in McKinney, hosts Fright at the Museum, a special event for adults ages 21 and older featuring a screening of Shaun of the Dead in the outdoor amphitheater, a trick-or-treat trail, a haunted forest, a costume contest and more, with food available for purchase.
