Oct. 3: ‘History and Practice of Photography’
The Meadows Museum at SMU, 5900 Bishop Blvd., in conjunction with exhibitions featuring the work of Laura Wilson and Manuel Álvaarez Bravo, continues its Luis Martín Lecture Series in the Humanities with a presentation by SMU art professor Randall Griffin, from 10:30-11:30 a.m., on “The De-Mystification of the American West in Photographs.” The four-part series is free for SMU faculty, staff and students and museum members, and is $60 for others.

Oct. 3: Gallery Talk
SMU’s Meadows Museum, 5900 Bishop Blvd., continues its Gallery Talk series with Father Gregory Schweers of Our Lady of Dallas Abbey and Cistercian Preparatory School, from 12:15-1 p.m. The program is free with regular museum admission, which is $12 for adults, $4 for seniors 65 and older, $4 for non-SMU students and free for museum members and those under 18 years of age.

Oct. 4: Legacy of Hope ‘Brunch Soiree’
Dallas Hope Charities hosts Legacy of Hope: A Brunch Soirée from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Aloft Dallas Downtown, 1033 Young St. Special guest speaker is Mark Segal, founder of Philadephia Gay News and a Stonewall Riots veteran. Proceeds benefit Dallas Hope’s mission to provide safe housting for LGBTQ youth.
