June 2: ‘The Way We Were: Dallas LGBTQ+ Nightlife” community archiving
In a collaborative project of Badge of Pride, The Dallas Way, Dallas Social Queer Organization and the Coalition for Aging Collaboration, members of the community are asked to bring their old bar photos from fun times in the LGBTQ+ bars throughout Dallas’ history to have them scanned to become part of the archives of the city and Texas, from 6-8 p.m. at Oak Lawn Place, 5723 Sadler Circle. Sister Helen Holy will emcee the event. All photos will be scanned and the originals returned to the owners that night. The photos shared in this event become part of the living public record and a fall exhibition presented through the Portal to Texas History, at no cost to the owners of the photos.
