Giddyup y’all
The last couple of pandemic years have put a hitch in many a get-along, especially for LGBTQ nonprofits who rely so much on money brought in by fundraising events. This weekend, though, you can get “Back in the Saddle” for the return of Resource Center’s biggest party of the year, Toast to Life. The Western Glitz-themed event features live entertainment from DJ Blake Ward and the Breckinridge Band, dancing, silent and live auctions, bites from local restaurants and so much more. It’s all happening Saturday, April 2, from 7-11 p.m. at The Empire Room, 1225 N. Riverfront Blvd. Tickets and sponsorships are available online at One.Bidpal.net/ToastToLife2022.

Selena forever
It’s been 27 years now since Yolanda Saldivar killed singer Selena Quintanilla, who was then just 23 years old, cutting short a career that was on the verge of super stardom. But there is no doubt that Selena remains the “undisputed queen of Tejano music,” and the queen of our hearts. Back by popular demand, the Round-Up Saloon and Texas Latino Pride present the third annual Siempre Selena Party on Sunday, April 3, from 4:30-9 p.m., at the Round-up, 3912 Cedar Springs Road, to celebrate what would have been the singer’s 51st birthday on April 16. Hosted by Greg Castillo and Macarena, the party will include drink specials, a “Fiesta Market” with food by Locura Small Bites and merchandise from Que Rico Tees and other vendors, as well as a Selena look-alike contest and a show.
