In the debate in the House of Representatives, Dallas congressman Pete Sessions compared women to smokers. He said that they should pay more because they get pregnant. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) said that being a woman is treated as a pre-existing condition by insurance companies.
She said insurance companies have used domestic violence as a pre-existing condition to deny coverage to women. Insurance companies denied coverage to women for rape, previous pregnancies and a c-section under the guise of pre-existing conditions. During the House debate, Republicans shouted down congresswomen discussing the problem of treating being a woman as a pre-existing condition.
So the only conclusion I can make from this is that these congressional Republicans welcome the decision of the Fort Worth city council last night to extend transgender health benefits. Now, being a woman in Fort Worth is a choice. With surgery, female Fort Worth city employees no longer need to remain women.
They can all become men and rid themselves of their pre-existing condition and the rest of them can just pay higher premiums. Heterosexual men can continue to beat up their wives and those women can be refused treatment because of their pre-existing condition. Rapists can attack women and why should we pay for their care? It’s a pre-existing condition. And what about breast cancer? A woman has 1000 times the chance of contracting. So, no need to object, object, object as in the video. Being a woman is no longer a pre-existing condition.
