In order to live your best life, you have to look the part. As Todrick Hall said, you’ve got to let the people see your nails, hair, hips and heels, and one new lounge in uptown allows customers to step up the first of the two components. Beyoutiful Nail Lounge first opened in uptown Dallas this past April, and although it is not located in the gayborhood, it is targeted toward members of the LGBTQ+ community who want to get glammed up.

Beyoutiful Nail Lounge is completely LGBTQ-owned and operated. Alex Pham, Kobe Nguyen and Sophie Tran came up with the idea, as they saw a need for it in the community. They wanted to create a relaxed environment where people from all walks of life can receive a variety of aesthetic services.

“We’re focusing more on reflexology,” says Pham. “Whenever you come to get your nails done, it also includes either a foot massage or a shoulder massage. We’re focusing more on the quality of the service, versus the quantity.”

Beyoutiful Nail Lounge offers manicures, pedicures, massages and waxes. Guests at the lounge can enjoy complimentary beverages and cocktails, including the cranberry mule. In addition for being a safe place for LGBTQ+ customers, Beyoutiful Nail Lounge is also committed to providing job opportunities to people of all genders and sexualities. Lily Tran, Beyoutiful’s lash and nail technician, feels that working at Beyoutiful has allowed her to fully utilize her talents and live an authentic life.

“I lived in South Florida for eight years,” Lily says. “I didn’t [face discrimination] until I moved to Houston. As a transgender woman, I experienced people who tried to look for reasons to fire me. I feel a lot more comfortable here. This is one of the main reasons why I moved to Dallas. I feel at home here.”

Lily has more than 15 years of beauty industry experience, and Beyoutiful Nail Lounge has provided her with a space to help others feel beautiful, as she does every day.

“We love to be beautiful,” Lily says. “I always wanted to work in the beauty industry. I love to make myself look pretty, and I love to make other people feel pretty.”

Pham first moved to Dallas from Los Angeles in 2017. He claims that Dallas has afforded him the opportunity to bring his vision to life.

“I had always planned to do something to serve the community,” Pham says. “I realized, when I was visiting a friend, that Dallas is going to be booming. This is a very commercial city, and one of the biggest in the nation. Plus, the LGBTQ community here is very friendly.”

Beyoutiful Nail Lounge is open in uptown Dallas at 2702 McKinney Ave #102.
