BBC reports on how Tribeca has grown as a film festival but also mentions its inclusion of Israel Luna’s controversial short film. Festival co-founder Robert DeNiro even talks about the Tribeca’s obligation to feature diverse voices in cinema and you could say he basically defends the movie.
UPDATE: Well, shucks. It turned out I had the incorrect BBC clip and now having trouble with the embed code. In the meantime, click here to for both the video and the story.
Why shouldn’t De Niro defend this movie? It’s freedom of expression. It is made by a small time unheard of unknown director who audaciously single handedly faced down the trans-menace’s overpowering media resoures!
What a incredible courageous man De Niro is.
De Niro will show this movie despite the outpouring of condemnation from arguably the smallest and most vulnerable of minorities, transgender woman of color. What a man.
De Niro will show it despite all of the hurtful condomnation he has endured . His internalizing of the pain and sadness betrayed by the smugness of his mug.
Most importantly he will have to somehow deal with the elevation in status of Tribeca that TOTWK produces.
What a man. What a advocate! What a hero De Niro!
This is truly a tribute to the Tribeca community which was nearly completely destroyed on 9/11 by a minority in anger over it’s oppression by WHIT EMEN.
WHAT A WHITE MAN!
Fomenting hatred / the Tribeca way.
