Joshua Tubbleville

Authorities identified Friday morning’s shooting victim as 33-year-old Joshua Tubbleville, WFAA TV reported. He was shot at about 5:45 a.m. near the intersection of Lemmon and Oak Lawn avenues after he and the assailant allegedly had left a nearby restaurant, the ABC affiliate said.

After being shot, Tubbleville lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree at a gas station. The suspect fled on on foot.

Cal Tubbleville, the victim’s brother, said he had moved to Dallas from the Houston area about three years ago and had recently bought a house here. He said he had spoken with his brother Thursday, and he didn’t indicate he was having problems with anyone.

Tubbleville worked as a national sales manager at Cypress Associates, and a friend, Bob Thomas, said Tubbleville was “very excited about his life in Dallas and the opportunities …”

WFAA TV reported that Tubbleville had gone out with Thomas and friends Thursday night to a wine bar and restaurant. He sent a text to his friend at 11:25 p.m., thanking them for the evening. Thomas then later learned Tubbleville had been killed.

“Everybody’s just shocked, and they want to know why,” he said.
