Arttitude, in partnership with the Cedar Springs Merchants Association  this week announced the official launch of the Gayborhood mural project Walls of Pride and officially opened a “request for qualifications” — or RFQ — for Community Mural 1.

Walls of Pride is “a major public art initiative transforming Cedar Springs into an even more vibrant showcase of community, identity and creativity,” according to a press release announcing its official launch.

The Cedar Springs Strip has “long served as a cultural hub and a sanctuary for self-expression, history and community pride in Dallas,” the press release noted. “The Walls of Pride campaign is designed to bring high-visibility, transformative public art directly to the neighborhood while empowering local creatives and uplifting diverse artist voices.

“Through a series of large-scale murals, the initiative will turn historic walls along The Strip into a dynamic showcase of community legacy and artistic vision,” the press release explained.

Representatives of the project said, “Public art has the power to tell our stories, honor our legacy and inspire everyone who walks down Cedar Springs. Walls of Pride is about ensuring our visual landscape reflects the energy, history, and brightness of the community that built it.”

Submissions for Community Mural 1 are open to established muralists and emerging visual artists alike who are “ready to leave their mark on one of Dallas’ most iconic corridors,” according to the press release. Interested artists are invited to review the project guidelines and submit their portfolio through the official online portal:
