Transgender artist Antony Hegarty is back on the musical radar with the new EP Thank You For Your Love from his band Antony and the Johnsons. It’s also the first single of the band’s full-length album Swanlights due out Oct. 11. The EP drops in North America on Tuesday.
The video is “comprised of Super 8 footage that Hegarty shot when he first arrived to New York City as a teenager in the early 1990s” which plays out nicely. The black and white is a bit Warholian and the shadows and grainy look give it a fantastic texture even if at times the song doesn’t quite match up with the tone. Some clever editing makes it work a bit better at the end though.
