American Airlines is one of the first corporations to weigh in on the humanitarian crisis the Trump Administration has created by tearing children away from parents at the U.S-Mexico border.

The airline requested “the federal government to immediately refrain from using American for the purpose of transporting children who have been separated from their families due to the current immigration policy.”

In a press release, the airline said the current policy is “not at all aligned with the values of American Airlines — we bring families together, not apart.”

On Wednesday, Trump signed an order that would end the practice of separating families, but at a press conference at Dallas City Hall today, attorney Domingo Garcia said 6,000 children have already been torn away from their parents and the federal government had no plan to reunite them.

“The Abuser-in-Chief decided to kidnap kids to hold for ransom to build his wall,” Garcia said.

“What is happening to these children across our southern border is deplorable,” Councilman Omar Narvaez said.

According the Dallas Morning News, some children are being flown 1,000 miles from where they were arrested with no notification to the parents. While the airline wouldn’t confirm whether it flew any of these children, reports from flight attendants are that they did.

County Judge Clay Jenkins has offered to take children who arrived on their own in facilities in Dallas County.

“We can provide them with love and compassion,” he said.
